Been told to let my turbo diesel Toyota van idle for a few minutes before turning motor off. Can this be true?

The vehicle is a 1994 Estima Emina manufactured in Japan. The advice has come from two mechanics. It supposedly cools down the turbo.

This is a fact of life for ALL turbos. There's not much Toyota can do change that.

When your turbo is spinning, it is lubricated and cooled by your engine oil. At hwy speed (or anytime you are stressing your engine), the turbo is getting super heated and the oil is getting super hot.

yes Toyota did...turbos ALL need to cool down.before turning the motor off...

Turbos have a lot of heat in them because when the air compressed through the compresser it heats up. Also the turbine spins at very high rpms (100,000-150,000 rpms) so there is a lot of heat produced in the turbo so if the dealership says let it cool I suggest taking their advice. I am not sure if you need to let it cool down.

All turbos you are supposed to let them cool. After highway/ freeway driving, generally the driving on the surface streets for a few minutes will cool it down. If you dont want to wait for a few minutes, get a turbo timer. THe turbo timer will let your engine idle without the key until its cool enough.

if you can run lpg with a Diesel the year of the PRADO IS 2005 ?
AND HAS ANYONE HAD PROBLEMS ? Thanks for all the help you can give ?

Installation and operation is not the problem. Time on queue and cost of installation LPG is big issue.

I had my LC 1991 TD repaired by Toyota, I had a slight
ticking sound, went to toyota and asked if they would
check it out, they determined that there may be a big
end problem, they suggested that they strip it down
and replace the bearings, the dealer quoted $1300 I
said is this a common problem with them and can it
